Nishiyama, who was convicted for his news-gathering activities on Okinawa's reversion to Japan in 1972, has claimed his career was ruined after he was illegally convicted of urging a Foreign Ministry secretary to bring him classified documents about the negotiation process between Japan and the United States over the reversion.
